As we are all now very much aware, the coronavirus pandemic is presenting us with a truly unprecedented situation as a community, and as educators. As a result, there is also uncertainty surrounding many school programs and whether they will be going ahead.
I wanted to reach out to reassure you that The Australian History Competition will be running as planned, and to update you on how we are addressing any issues that the covid-19 virus may cause for both students and teachers.
During this challenging time, we believe our role and responsibility is to continue our core aim of providing recognition for students and promoting the significance of the study of History; but most importantly, doing so in a way that supports students and teachers with flexible arrangements that will facilitate participation.
Consequently, we have made the following changes to increase the flexibility of the program so that no students miss out on the opportunity to compete:
- • Schools that can run the competition in the advertised week
June 1 – 5 should do so
and return their answers as usual. These returns will be marked and student results
with provisional cut-off levels will be available online within 6 weeks.
- • Schools who cannot complete the competition in the original
time period can
complete the competition at any time up until October 30th. For these schools we will
do a marking run at the end of each month and provide the results online.
- • When all answers have been returned at the end of October,
we will collate all the
results, and issue certificate and prizes.
To provide some certainty in your program for the year we would encourage you to not delay and register now using the button above, before the closing date of April 21st.
